THE WAVE/LIQUID ROBOT/G-STYLE

We have started a new class for all you popping enthusiast, which is the wave/G-style/liquid robot class. This class will be centered around waves in detail, more variation of waves, advanced styles of waves and waves combos. In general the material taught can be cataloged as swipe waves, drop waves, wave-roll combos, technical wave tricks, finger waves, wave through combos, spiral waves, ticking waves, segmented/catepillar waves, reverse palm waves, body wave combinations, wave-floorwork combos. energy ball and many more. The liquid robot style is based on a combination of bodywave, snaking, and arm hydraulics with stop actions in between. The G-style of popping is another original popping style. which originated from Pomona, california around the early 80s. This style is based around very freestyle wave combination centered around the dancer manipulating an energy ball through his body. Most significantly identified as done by the Legendary Slick Dogg, the G style is a unique style in its own right along with the boogaloo and animation styles of popping. This class is suitable for poppers who have completed all the basic technicals in wave foundations and would like to specialize. I would like to strongly emphasize that the material taught is meant to help the individual create their own style and direction and are not fixed.

HIP HOP STYLES

HIP HOP

New Jack Swing/Rap Dance/Hype Style

Made famous by the type of sound called the New Jack Swing, which was popularized by the likes of Bobby Brown, New Jack Swing is easily identified by the type of style of dance done by the legendary MC Hammer. Also known as Rap dance or Hype Style, the New Jack Swing style is a highly energetic dance with a lot of flavor. The class is a more technical class with less choreography but full of energy. This class offers a great workout.

HIP HOP FOUNDATION

The foundation class is suitable for individuals who are very new to Hip Hop styles. The class is predominantly technical with very little emphasis on choreography. The foundation follows a module of elementary techniques and basic steps to help individuals get started with Hip Hop. The class focuses on building the individuals rhythm and coordination and teaching them how to dance first before dancing a particular style. This class is suitable for adults and kids who have no dance background.

NEW STYLES

The New Styles classes are basically a fusion of different Hip Hop styles based on the taste and interpretation of the teacher. It is a fun and highly energetic class which is more geared towards routines and choreography, similarly to what is seen in most popular hip hop music videos. Different types of New Styles available in our classes are street Jazz, Lyrical Hip Hop and R&B get downs. This class is suitable for adults with an adequate basic in dance.

GIRL STYLES

The Girl Styles class is a unique class specifically created for choreography, which appeal to the feminine body line of girls. Focusing on girl power, this class is a big favorite among female dancers looking to make their mark among a highly male dominated dance form. This class is suitable for individuals with an adequate foundation in dance.

POPPIN’ STYLES

POPPIN’ FOUNDATION

This class concentrates on building up the adequate basic and foundation for any individual looking to specialize in New Styles Hip Hop, Boogaloo, G Styles or even Animation. It provides you with the necessary tools to either freestyle or be a technical performer. The foundation class focuses on a lot of hitting and popping drills to ensure that each student is able to pop at every angle and on the beat accurately all the time. Apart from that, the class works on developing all the fundamental techniques such as isolation, dime stopping, basic hydraulics, waves, glides, footwork, and basic tutting.

BOOGALOO STYLE (BOOG STYLE)

This class focuses on the style made popular by the Electric Boogaloos in the early seventies. In this class, students will be taught the foundation moves and techniques laid down by the EB members, who established the Boogaloo Style as arguably, the most original and important of all Poppin’ styles. The foundation moves taught will include the following; twist-o-flex, neck-o-flex, master flex, boogaloo rolls, walk outs, snaking, cobra, Fresno/funky angles, funky footwork/crazy legs, old man style, floor work, strutting, sleepy style, toy man, filmore, shadow box ,Egyptian twist, romeo twist. This class is suited only for students who have completed a few weeks of foundation classes in Hip Hop and Popping.

ANIMATION & TRICKS

The Tricks and Animation class is a highly technical class with a lot of emphasis on the following: hydraulics, robotics and animatronics, animation, ticking, ticking waves, caterpillars, advanced isolation tricks, strobing, puppetry, advanced tutting, wave-roll combinations, glides and walks, blow ups, hat tricks, and so on. This class suitable for students who have completed a few weeks of Popping and Hip Hop Foundation classes.
